British education: A passport to university

The Secondary School at Bangkok Prep provides a challenging and academic learning path for students aged 11 to 18 years.

All of our fully qualified and committed teachers are experienced in the delivery of the National Curriculum of England. This ensures that our students meet the highest standards required by prestigious universities around the world. The curriculum promotes independence and self-motivation and capitalises on the students’ strengths.

The teaching and learning that takes place in Year 7, 8 and 9 lay the foundations for the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE or IGCSE) courses in Years 10 and 11 where there is more emphasis on individual subject knowledge. Students then go on to study the Advanced Level (A Level) in Years 12 and 13 which focuses on subjects where the student’s passion and abilities lies.

What is the A Level programme?

The Advanced Level General Certificate of Education’is a well-respected and world renowned programme of study that is said to give a student depth of knowledge in each subject studied.

The programme was established in the United Kingdom in the 1950s and is widely known throughout the world as the gold standard of education, helping to prepare students for university.

The A Level programme or the A levels are divided in to two one year courses of study; AS during Year 12 followed by A2 in Year 13. The AS allows students to study several subjects in their first year and then adapt to specialise in A2.
