A Level Programme (August 2017)
Bangkok Prep provides an education where students can prepare for life and realise their full potential through a stimulating and challenging international learning community. We aspire to an appreciation of cultural diversity and a willingness to embrace social and personal responsibility.
Students must, prior to starting on their higher level Secondary School education, be academically ready and prepared to undertake a rigorous course of studies leading to the award of A Level.
In addition to their academic pursuits, students will have opportunities, organised by the school, to benefit from counselling and tutoring programmes as needed.
Furthermore, we support internships with local industry as well as contributing to the community through our Community Service programme, in order to support students’ entry into world-renowned universities.
Students wishing to join Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary School to take the A Level courses must be able to demonstrate either from their grades from previous external examinations (IGCSE, GCSE or O Level) and/or by undertaking entrance examinations in the subjects that they wish to continue with for the coming academic year, a high level of academic ability and the potential to carry this forward to successfully achieve excellent results at A Level.
All students are required to submit previous academic reports covering, at a minimum, their work and grades during the last school year.
2) Registration Fee
The one-off and non-refundable registration fee will be entirely waived due to the limited 2-year timeframe of the Year 12 and 13 A Level programme.
3) Subject Blocking – August 2017
|Information Technology||Biology||English Literature||PE||Design Technology|
|Maths 1||Maths 2||Computer Science||Geography||Psychology (Waiting List*)|
*The Psychology option has been an incredibly popular choice this year and we are currently accepting students on to a waiting list. At this juncture the numbers are still very fluid Although we can not guarantee there will be a place in the class, there is a distinct possibility.
Those who choose to take Further Mathematics must also take Mathematics. Please note that, due to high number of students wanting to study the A level Maths, there will be two classes timetabled at different times.
Applicants need to make four subject choices from the above five blocks, and only one choice per block.
In addition to these subjects, there are compulsory components to the studies next year for all students in Year 12:
- Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
- Physical Education (for physical well-being and being healthy)
- Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE)
- Community Service
- Thai studies for Thai students
