Job vacancy: Physical Education (PE) Teacher Assistant

Report to: Head of Primary and/or Secondary via Head of PE

 

Objective: To work as a member of the Physical Education Department mainly teaching swimming.

 

Main Roles and Responsibilities:

 

  • Teach swimming and PE to all children
  • Assist the swimming squad coach with coaching the most able students as part of the extra-curricular programme.
  • Plan appropriate lessons that help to develop skills in a supportive, child-centred and challenging way.
  • Assess student progress, setting targets for improvement and reporting progress to parents
  • Basic monitoring of pool maintenance
  • Ensure monitoring of pool maintenance
  • Student data-inputting and tracking
  • Embrace new initiatives to develop the swim programme
  • Help organize the classroom in a clear way
  • Assist in the preparation of resources and equipment needed for lessons
  • Work alongside the teacher during lessons
  • Inform the teacher of individual student difficulties or achievement that has been observed during lessons
  • Supervise the classes movement around the school and to specialist lessons
  • Help with administrative jobs within the department

Key Competencies

 

  • Male/Female
  • Thai nationality
  • Be a qualified swim/PE teacher
  • Be computer literate
  • Have a good command of written and spoken English
  • Have good knowledge of poolside procedures, safety and first aid
  • Follow development in swimming/ PE and be interested in new techniques in the teaching and coaching of sport

Minimum educational qualification: Bachelor Degree

Minimum no. of years of working experience: At least 1 year.

 

Other Qualifications: 

 

  • Good command in English
  • Be able to relate well with the students and expat staff.
  • Be creative
  • Proactive and positive thinking

Job Vacancy: Teacher Assistant

Report to: Head of Primary via Head of Teacher Assistant

(Part-time during 1st September - 29th November 2010)

 

Aim: To assist students within the classroom with their learning. To support teachers and help provide the most effective learning environment for students.

 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

 

Supporting the students

 

  • To develop a knowledge of a range of learning support that can be given to students
  • Work with groups of students or individuals to help them engage in the learning objectives of the lesson. e.g. clarifying and explaining instructions, ensuring the student is able to use the equipment and materials provided, motivating and encouraging the student, assisting students in areas of weakness, behaviour, ability to focus, reading, question students to ensure their understanding, encourage group work and try to involve all students, and praise students and develop their self esteem

Supporting the teacher

 

  • To help organise the classroom in a clear way
  • To assist in the preparation of resources and equipment needed for lessons
  • To assist with the displays in the class and around the school
  • To work alongside the teacher during lessons
  • To inform the teacher of individual student difficulties or achievement that has been observed during lessons
  • To supervise the classes movement around the school and to specialist lessons
  • To consistently maintain behavior codes of conduct

Supporting the school

 

  • Contribute to the development of the whole-school, including attendance at staff meetings, in-service training days and through membership of ‘task/working groups’ and through support of school functions
  • Maintain an interest in, and overview of, educational developments, especially in relation to teaching and learning
  • Maintain a full application of the principles laid down in school policy documentation - e.g. Code of Conduct, Dress Code, etc

 Additional Responsibilities

 

  • Undertake supervision duties at break or lunchtime and before or after school
  • Undertake any other duties that the Headmaster, Head of Primary or Head of Teaching Assistant may reasonably request from time to time

Minimum educational qualification: Bachelor Degree

Minimum no. of years of working experience: 2 years.
