Art is one of the only subjects where there is no wrong answer. There are many ways for a student to respond to the task set by their Art teacher. The attitude that we try to encourage in Art students is that they must keep their eyes and minds open and above all must be prepared to persevere with their art work.
Art is a practical subject that encourages students to express ideas and feelings, as well as communicating messages and meaning in visual form. Students practice a variety of art-making techniques in two and three dimensions, giving them a broad programme of study. Tasks are set to help develop independence, imagination and interpretation. In other words students will have an opportunity to practice techniques on their own, to display their own creativity and to consider a variety of responses to a given theme. An essential element of their learning is the study of artists through History, which encourages them to reflect on their own position in the context of Art, society and History.
