Sports

Sport plays a major role in pupils' personal and social development at Bangkok Prep. The sporting curriculum provides the pupils with numerous opportunities to broaden their network of skills and to learn how to become an effective member of a team.

In the primary school, students receive a 45 minute PE lesson and a 45 minute swimming lesson per week. In the secondary school, a 2 hour PE slot is allocated to each year group. These lessons are taken by specialist teachers using the British National Curriculum as a framework for their teaching.

In addition to the work that is covered in PE and swimming classes, a variety of after school clubs provide pupils with further sporting opportunities. Training clubs are held on various days of the week to prepare school teams for their involvement in the TISAC sporting programme. On top of these training clubs, other activities are organised within the after school curriculum to boost pupils' participation and enthusiasm in sport.

As a result of being a member of TISAC, the PE Department organises and coordinates a number of different school sporting events during the year. In the past, pupils have had the opportunity to take part in Sport Activity Days, a Sports Day held at an outside venue and Swimming Galas. These days have given the pupils a chance to demonstrate their sporting skills to an audience and increased their competitive spirit. The hope is that continued participation in days like these will give the pupils more exposure to competition and ultimately prepare them for their possible involvement in any TISAC sporting events in the future.
