School Announcement (Updated)
Dear Bangkok Prep Community
It is with deep regret we learnt yesterday of the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the beloved King of Thailand.
As a school and as individuals we feel great heartache and sorrow for the Royal Family and the people of Thailand. We offer our sincere condolences and moral support, and also wish them strength and resolve to carry them through this difficult time. This sad moment requires special understanding and appropriate behaviour from us all as a mark of respect for the Monarchy and the people of Thailand. Thai citizens will be emotionally affected by the loss and we need to respect their need for grieving and sorrow.
We are closed, today Friday 14th October 2016, as a mark of respect but will re-open on Monday 17th October at the usual time. We will hold a short commemoration service in the Sports Hall for our students at 7:50am on Monday morning.
In line with tradition, we will adjust our school calendar slightly over the next month to ensure that celebratory events with a high entertainment content are postponed.
In the meantime, let us all be mindful of the tremendous sense of loss that is felt by all Thais and all those who love Thailand. The passing of this great man who was seen as the ‘Father of this Nation’ is mourned by all.
